Ryan and Omar believe that education has been the most transformative and liberating force in their life and feel so fortunate to have the chance give that opportunity to others. They work with Bay Area educational programs and charities as wells as being deeply involved in their local communities through mentoring, volunteering and community engagement.
Omar and Ryan met in Law School as students with dreams of impacting their community and changing the world they lived in. Prior to during and after law school they were engaged in human and civil rights work nationally and international. After transition from law to real estate they to become more involved in charitable and public service work which allowed them to continue to work in their communities to effectuate positive change in the world
10,000 Degrees understands setting a college-going mindset starts early. They work directly with local elementary and middle school students to help make sure they can envision a pathway to college. They deliver the following real-world, interactive support to encourage the next generation to embrace their futures and make their college dreams come true.
Ryan and Omar serve on the Young Professionals Council where they help mentor scholars, raise money, assess applicants and aid in the function of the organization. They also organize the 10,000 Degrees annual art auction which raised enough money to provide two Bay area students with 4 year college scholarships in 2019.
Ryan has been a mentor with Big Brothers and Sisters for over 5 years, during which time he has mentored a Little Brother.
Founded in 1985, Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to critically ill neighbors and seniors. Our food is like medicine, helping clients recover from illness, get stronger, and lead healthier lives.
Every day, we prepare 2,500 nutritious meals and provide 200 bags of healthy groceries to help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, isolation, or the health challenges of aging. We serve San Francisco Oakland, engaging more than 125 volunteers daily to nourish our community.
Ryan helped with a food delivery route for several years.
